Ingredients : Bud's Corn Dogs Recipe
1 cup Flour
1 1/2 cup Corn meal
1 tsp Baking powder
2 1/4 cup Milk
1/2 tbsp Sugar
1 dash salt
2 tbsp Louisiana Hot Sauce
1 package Hot Dogs, (or for a real - heart-stopper, - polish sausage, - Hy-Grades makes a - "hot" variety that - will "kick butt & - take down names!")
Combine all ingredients to form a batter. If too thick add a little more
milk. Dip hot dogs in batter and drop them into hot oil. Fry to golden
brown.
This was based on a recipe in out family cookbook with this added to it:
These are like the corn dogs sold at county fairs. The "Cozy Dog" drive in
is a landmark in Springfield, Illinois. They specialize in these, and it
is sometimes rumored that Uncle Bob knew the owner and got his recipe.
I added the hot sauce and readjusted some quantities.
Serve with mustard.
